And the way to do that is to just make yourself stop.

Thanks, Silas. I needed this lesson today. You brought back some wonderful memories for me. I grew up in Woodbine and spent most of my childhood up a tree in the woods behind the house. I need to learn how to sit and be like that again. This lesson has been coming at me from all sides the last couple of weeks, and here it is on your blog, to boot. Amazon listed "Lord God," as a key phrase in your book. My Grandmother is the only person I ever heard say that.
I found your blog and somehow I feel a little bit closer to her reading it.Aimeehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00147506875370126093noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-736523594228656794.post-53466934314632254302008-02-01T16:54:00.000-08:002008-02-01T16:54:00.000-08:00Good job Silas. My grandfather was a farmer and we all moved around a lot but we always found woods and creeks to play in.(Like Marcie I also grew up and went to school in Nicholas County)
We all still see one another quite often and love to talk about those days.
We were also raised "full gospel" so I relate to your confusion concerning God as well. I find God in the quite simple things in life too; nature, the breath of a baby, a touch from my granmothers. They are both gone now but when I need them I can get still and feel their love like they are with me. I think we make God more complicated than He ever intended. We take everything, including ourselves, way to serious.
I think that is why I am so in love with your writing. It is simple and true, the way things really are. You have a gift to see life clearly and the gift of being able to tell it in terms everyone understands.
I look forward to your blog every month and I sit on pins and needles awaiting your next book.

gena arnold
cynthianagenahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16855102341998519185noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-736523594228656794.post-3062643763584273542007-12-13T08:36:00.000-08:002007-12-13T08:36:00.000-08:00I spent a large chunk of my childhood roaming the ...I spent a large chunk of my childhood roaming the woods in Nicholas County and those are times that I would never give back, not for anything.

It saddens me that my own daughter does not and will most likely never have those memories because we live in the city.

However, even if we lived in a rural area I'm not sure if I'd feel safe letting her roam around the way that I did when I was her age. I don't know if that is a flaw in me or a bigger flaw in the human race.

~MarcieWaltzing Foolhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09990219835480439351noreply@blogger.com
