Ray LaMontagne's music makes me feel confident. I think "For the Summer" is a particular kind of magic :) I love The Avett Brothers as well and the Mumford & Sons CD is addictive. One of my favorite summer songs (old but still a fave) is "Naked as We Came" by Iron & Wine. I'm also listening to Josh Ritter ("The Curse" gives me chills), Joe Pug (Hymn #101), and Laura Marling ("Devil's Spoke). And I've been in a mood for The Judds lately. When I was little, I thought the song "Mama, He's Crazy" was the sweetest song in the world. I'm still mostly convinced this is true. Loved reading your list!

Great list! Learned of some stuff I've never heard before. I'm listening to jazz; recently Roy Hargrove Quintet (Earfood), Chet Baker (Funny Valentine), Stanley Jordan (State of Mind), Boney James (Send One Your Love), & Paul Hardcastle Jazzmasters (The Smooth Cuts).

Thank you for the playlist and videos. Lots of new stuff to discover! These days I seem to be listening to some not-so-old favorites, which are like comfort food. My playlist:

- Under the Rose, by Rahim AlHaj and Ottmar Liebert

- Lovesong of the Buzzard, by Iron and Wine

- Lisa Hannigan's debut CD, See Saw

- Anything by The Wailin' Jennys

- It Snowed, by Meaghan Smith, particularly during this hot summer we've had

- Vampire Weekend's A-Punk because it's fun and energetic

I love love love everything done by Mumford & Sons. The Cave is one of my favorite favorites but Little Lion Man is perhaps my favorite. You can see their complete concert here: http://www.baeblemusic.com/concertvideo/Music-Hall-of-Williamsburg/Mumford-and-Sons.html

I posted some of their videos on my blog recently.

Listening to mostly older stuff, some older "new" stuff...

Jessica Lea Mayfield, "You've Won Me Over"
She's associated with the Avett Brothers somehow...I think they covered one of her tunes. Could be wrong.
Grant Lee Phillips, "Josephine of the Swamps"
Grant Lee Buffalo, "Mighty Joe Moon"
St. Vincent, "Just the Same But Brand New"
Tim Exile, "Pay Tomorrow" (Probably not your cup of tea musically, but the lyrics...)
Chris Isaak, the debut album: "Lie To Me" "Blue Hotel"

Thanks for the list. Have heard and loved Josh Ritter, but not the others. I need a playlist update. Will check all these out.
